My Moses

Before bed I am reading AJ the story of Moses, again. We don't get much past the beginning of the story because there are the usual 101 questions. This time the questions center around why on earth a mother would place her baby in a basket and float him down a river. Wouldn't that be rather dangerous for the baby? There are crocodiles in the water! What was Jocabed (Moses' mother) thinking? The similarity to our own situation was too difficult to ignore.

"Well," I mused slowly, Jocabed knew that Moses would be better off with the princess. It's not that different than what Mese (bio mom, pronounced Ma-say) did for you. She wanted you to be safe, wanted to make sure someone was taking good care of you. She couldn't do that herself, so she allowed someone else to be your mom. Do you think Jocabed loved Moses?"

He nods, "Oh yeah."

"Mese loved you like that."

AJ's new mom is no princess. But she sure loves him...
