First Birthday

Last October on the day when we became AJs legal parents, we also received word of his official birthdate. In the excitement I think I failed to mention this on the blog. Birthdates given to these Ethiopian kids are almost always estimated. In general, birth records are not kept and birthdays are not celebrated in Ethiopia. So this is AJs first birthday celebration. May 30, 2003 may or may not be the day AJ was born. Once AJ came home, we checked the date out with his doctor and his dentist and decided to keep it. I liked the fact that the birthdate is late in the school year so that I could hold him back. AJ just turned 7, but will start first grade in the fall.

AJ has been watching other people have birthdays since January and he is more than ready for his!! We are celebrating with family at the cabin in Red Lodge.
